Normally we try to do a Blog post that is educational and fun. This week we want to touch a bit on dog food and how it relates to our store. It’s not an advertisement per se, but rather an attempt to educate you on why we sell the brands we do, and why you can trust us.
We are frequently asked about our food. How good is it? Has it ever been recalled? Where is it made?
We are very picky about what we sell at The Pet Pantry. One of the companies we sell, Champion Petfoods manufactured in Morinville Alberta Canada, are the makers of Orijen and Acana.. They are self packed which means they make and package their own foods. Some manufacturers co-pack, which means the foods are made by another company and packed in the manufactures bags. Sure, they have the strictest standards of quality, but because the foods come off someone else’s production lines, mistakes can happen. You’ve all heard about the many recalls in the past couple of years and why one recall effects so many brands of dog foods. Why is that? It’s because of co-packing. One manufacturer makes the food for many dog food companies and if there is a problem, it affects many brands of food. Acana and Origen are made to very high standards. They have never been recalled. All Orijen dry foods are grain free. All of the Acana we sell are grain free. We stock many different types of both the Acana and Orijen.

These are just two of the brands we stock. Every food in our store is manufactured in North America and is self packed by the manufacturer. We talk to our suppliers and make sure this is always the case. That way we can feel very good about the food we sell and our customers can trust us to always give them the best quality product. We are also proud to offer our “Frequent Buyers Program” When you sign up for this, we will document your purchases and when you buy 12 bags, the 13th is free. What makes our program unique is we do all the work for you. No cutting off UPC codes from the bags and bringing them in. Champion allows us to save a copy of the receipt and use those for proof of purchase. The program is free. All you have to do is ask to participate.
We are all dog owners here and we love them as family. It is our job to take the best care of them as possible. We will sell nothing that we wouldn’t give to our own dogs.
